I spent the day mixing up casting slip - but first had to ring up Bath Potters for advice.
Although I had a recipe saved on the computer I had no idea what raw ingredients I had on my shelves. It's been so long since I mixed a batch that labels on pots have faded making them impossible to read. I had to ring Bath Potters and describe what my possible ingredients looked like - "I have a clear honey-like substance what could this be?"..."Probably Sodium Silicate". I got there in the end and re-marked all my ingredients so that the labels will be light-safe. I've also marked the date on the bucket of slip so that I can see just how many years it does last me for! Next on the list is some clay recycling...
